Innovation and Growth Lead, Austin Business Center, Survivability, Targeting and Sensing Solutions
Eric Hoenes has over 33 years’ experience in Technical Leadership and Program Management in DoD R&D programs at BAE Systems and the Naval Surface Warfare Center focusing on integrated sensor systems, sensor fusion, and decision support. In the past he has served as the Systems Engineering Manager for a Product Line managing a group of Systems Engineers specializing in integrating situational awareness including the system architecture, design, analysis, integration & test of Electro-Optical/ Infrared (EO/IR) and acoustic sensor systems. Previously, he also managed an Advanced Technologies Group focused on sensor system technology development. In addition he has performed management and engineering leadership roles for technology development programs. He has over 20 years’ experience architecting and leading winning technical proposals for work with a variety of DoD research institutions including the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), and DoD Navy Labs.
In his current role as Innovation and Growth Lead for the Austin Business Center, Eric provides technical leadership for the Austin Business Center’s strategic growth initiative.
Eric is a graduate of Texas A&M University, with a B.S. in Maritime Systems Engineering, and Stevens Institute of Technology with a M.E. in Ocean Engineering.
Eric was born in Barberton, Ohio, and has lived and worked in the Washington D.C., Tacoma, Washington, and Austin, Texas areas over his 33 year career.
