Mr. Rick Jocz was born in Sapporo, Japan in 1953, but grew up in San Antonio, Texas. He received a BS in Biology from The Citadel in 1974 and a MS in Biology from The University of Texas at San Antonio in 1978. He was an officer in the US Army for twenty years with various science and administrative assignments at Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas, the 97th General Hospital, Frankfurt am Main, West Germany, the Army Medical Department Center and School, Fort Sam Houston, the Pentagon Health Clinic and culminating as the Executive Officer of the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR). It was in this final assignment that he became involved in Technology Transfer. After retiring from the Army in 1996, he became a contract employee and then, a civil servant, at USAISR, where he is presently the Research Directorate Program Manager and also the Office of Research and Technology Applications (ORTA).
