Tech Brief: Gentoo is a hydrophobic, clear, durable coating with a 2-4 degree sliding angle that was developed under a Military SBIR to allow water and mud to slide off the canopies of F16 fighter jets. It has self-cleaning abilities, excellent corrosion protection, abrasion resistance and great chemical resistance.


Value Proposition: It is the Holy Grail of coatings by offering such a unique and sought after combination of performance characteristics. In this one versatile coating you find the ability to resistant a large number of chemicals - both acids and solvents, excellent corrosion protection, a high level of clarity, an ability to resist abrasion, excellent durability and longevity, a unique self-cleaning ability, excellent hydrophobicity, an tremendous ability to coat and protect electronics from water, a ability to make lens and windows self-cleaning, an ability to repel paint - making it an excellent graffiti-proof coating. This list of attributes shows its large number of complimentary characteristics that allow it to be considered as a coating solution for many applications. The product's commercial launch is targeted for August 2016 and testing by OEMs has been on-going. The price point is expected to be about $ 0.79 per square foot or about $ 8.00 per square meter of coverage. One gallon will cover approximately 665 square feet (assumes no waste).
