Tech Brief: Pre-treats biomass, oils, municipal and industrial sludge and solid waste as well as low quality coals for use in high-temperature combustion, pyrolysis, and gasification systems to produce clean energy, H2, chemicals, liquid fuels at a fraction of the cost required today without emissions and ash-related problems.

Value Proposition: The situation today in Middle East as well as problems with countries such as Russia, Venezuela, and Iran as well as the problems associated with air pollution emissions of CO2, NOx, SOx, heavy metals etc. makes the use of domestic US sources either these are renewable (biomass, waste, etc.) or fossil (low quality coals) for the production of clean and affordable energy and liquid fuels/chemicals imperative. US has a vast potential of low cost biomass such as agro-waste, energy crops, vegetable oils, MSW, industrial organic and food waste etc. as well as huge reserves of low quality coals such as PRB, lignite, and high sulfur bituminous. The efficient use of part of these resources for the production of clean energy and liquid fuels when biomass and waste are used as the original feed-stock and/or energy and liquid fuels with significantly reduced carbon footprint as well as SOx, NOx, heavy metals, etc. emissions and no ash-related problems when low quality coals are the original feed-stock by applying the combined pre-treatment process will offer energy security to US army and sustainable economic development creating jobs that support the US army and utilize efficiently the US resources.
