Use Of phosphatidylcholine (PC)-associated NSAIDs to treat pulmonary injury/inflammation

Tech Brief: Using proprietary preparation of PC-NSAIDs we administered Indomethacin-PC and Ibuprofen-PC directly to the lungs of mice exposed to a toxic ozone. We demonstrated a remarkable ability of this intrapulmonary administered PC-NSAID, which can be aerosolized, to inhibit ozone–induced lung inflammation/cell injury.
Value Proposition: An effective method to rapidly treat lung injury and/or inflammation as may be caused by gaseous biological warfare agents, by the inhalation of PC-NSAIDs may prove invaluable to both the military and our civilian population. It would be difficult to put a value proposition on this technology at the present time, but conservative estimates would be that could save thousands of live and $ billions in health care costs.
