Tech Brief: Antimicrobial NanoAlloy (ANA) is an additive that can be incorporated into coatings such as paints and epoxies to combat the microbial growth responsible for corrosion. ANA is engineered to kill bacteria upon contact with the coated surface and continue to kill bacteria for the life of the coating.


Value Proposition: Antimicrobial NanoAlloy (ANA) combats microbial growth in a revolutionary way. Rather than treating microbiologically contaminated surfaces with a biocide, coatings and coating additives from Advanced Nano Solutions are specifically engineered to kill bacteria immediately upon contact with any ANA coated surface. ANS coatings then continue to kill bacteria for the entire life of the coating. Microbiologically influenced corrosion (MIC) is possibly the most costly aspect of microbial damage. Each year, MIC causes over $220 billion dollars of damage in the United States alone. MIC slows production in oil and gas wells, shortens the life span of pipelines, wears holes in fuel storage tanks, grounds military aircraft, and corrodes the ballast tanks of cargo ships. It causes diesel fuel injectors to fail, marine infrastructure to degrade, and prematurely retires water pumps. There is a war against microorganisms, and ANA coatings allow the fight to begin before the products even leave the factory.
