Tech Brief: The ROSS M1 sterilization device was specifically designed to support military use in Forward Operation Bases (FOB) and other remote locations around the world. The ROSS M1 unit provides a new capability as an economic, portable and user-friendly system for sterilizing surgical instruments in a timely manner (35 minutes).
Value Proposition: The battery-powered ROSS M1 was designed to support special operations and conventional force surgical teams during a wide array of operations. Our solution is especially suited to FOBs and combat situations where easy and portable sterilization of medical tools is critical to patient survival. Infections from the use of non-sterile medical equipment used in the field is a significant problem in military and civilian operations. The lack of portable solutions for quick sterilization while in the field has caused serious concerns. Our focus for the ROSS M1 is on improving pre-hospital medical care during operations to maximize warrior health, performance and well-being. The ROSS M1 is the ONLY medical instrument capable of low temperature sterilization that is quick, easy to use, and portable. The ROSS M1 prototype was evaluated by a Special Forces surgical team. It was a very successful demonstration of the technology, and in fact, it achieved a System Usability Score of 97/100. Several other high profile and successful demonstrations are now complete, and the results from military leaders have been astounding. One Air Force Captain called the ROSS M1 technology a “Game Changer” with significant military implications.
