Tech Brief: Ceramatec has developed an oxygen-generation system for filling high-pressure oxygen cylinders. The high-purity oxygen is useful to refill Aviator's Breathing Oxygen (ABO) tanks for use in military aircraft. Our technology is easy to use, affordable, reliable, and guaranteed to produce high purity oxygen from ambient air.

FIGURES OF MERIT

Value Proposition: Military applications of SEOS include usage anywhere that small-volume, high-purity point-of-use oxygen generation is required. Electrically-driven, planar SEOS devices have long-term cost and logistical advantages over the competition owing to the significant challenges associated with shipping liquid or gaseous high-purity oxygen in cylinders to remote locations of the world. Oxygen is a huge logistical burden for the military for both medical applications and for ABO. As an example, in the deployed medical field, a single patient can use nearly 3 litters of oxygen per minute, which will use the contents of a 150-pound oxygen cylinder each day. Assuming that 25% of combat casualties require oxygen, then this means that a 100-bed field hospital could theoretically need 2500 pounds of oxygen cylinders per day (the oxygen cylinder is 145 pounds of steel and just 5 pounds of oxygen). One can easily see the substantial benefits for an on-site easy-to-use device for re-filling oxygen cylinders at the point of use. Ceramatec recognizes the enormous impact oxygen has on military logistics, and our technology would add the capability to generate oxygen at the point of use.
