Tech Brief: Control of machines from a distance has traditionally been limited to teleoperation (unassisted low-level manual control) or telerobotics (supervised automated machine control). BluHaptics offers a new category of control that utilizes technological advances in robotics we call augmented telerobotics (assisted real-time high-level manual control), which yields significant gains in productivity.


Value Proposition: BluHaptics technology supports advanced applications of human­assisted robotics requiring real­time situational awareness and control in unstructured, complex environments. For example, bomb squad technicians, with little training, can rapidly program telerobotic sequences that would enable collision avoidance and supervised autonomy as they neutralize threats. The interactive nature of our software stands in stark contrast to any other telerobotics alternative that typically requires advanced robotic training and experience, which means the bomb technician can focus on building/maintaining their comprehensive knowledge of bombs, not robotics. Likewise, our technology would support complex maintenance of satellites and assembly of modularized assets while in orbit, on the moon or traveling on distant asteroids. The ability to designate “no­touch” boundaries is especially important as unintended contact puts objects in motion.
