Tech Brief: In acute warfare and disaster scenarios, the ability to accurately obtain and trend parameters of physiologic status (PPS) data from the injured can be life-saving. Using a hand-held device, the iCertainty™ technology captures these PPS data from a non-invasive 6-sec digital image of the palm of the hand.


Value Proposition: The Value proposition for the DOD is the avoidance of preventable deaths in the pre-MTF/Prolonged Field Care of injured soldiers by Role I providers/solider colleagues. The extreme physiologic conditioning of these forward soldiers masks clinical signs and symptoms of injury until catastrophic events occur. In addition, better data on the physiologic and pathophysiologic response to injury in these highly conditioned soldiers is needed. A hand-held, battery-powered, SWaP device that provides the iCertainty™ breadth and depth of physiologic data, trended over time, will provide information that doesn’t exist today. The aggregate digital physiologic data will define the unique response-to-injury parameters in these elite soldiers. The trended data will give new informational clues about physiologic well-being not available from standard measurement and monitoring technologies. These digital data from the time-point of initial evaluation can be immediately uploaded at transfer. Because of the non-invasive design and rapid data acquisition and analysis of the data, this iCertainty™ device will significantly improve the efficiency of care givers in this Prolonged Field Care setting, where Damage Control Resuscitation is of paramount importance in diagnosing preventable deaths, and for monitoring of sub-lethal injuries over prolonged time intervals.
