Tech Readiness: TRL 4

Tech Brief: We are building cloud-connected battery testing and monitoring tools. From R&D to manufacturing, battery testers at all scales are prohibitively expensive and/or supported with antiquated software. Modern electronics and cloud infrastructure allow us to build a low-cost, high-performance battery testing platform to reach new markets and accelerate battery breakthroughs.

Value Proposition: American battery manufacturing is not competitive with Japan, Korea, and China, and has not been since the invention of the Li-ion battery. The single largest cost for battery research labs and startups is the testing equipment itself. By providing a low-cost, high-performance battery testing platform, Cloud Instruments accomplishes two things: a) Lowers the barrier to entry for new and large battery projects - from STEM education all the way to advanced manufacturing. b) Provides the tools battery scientists and engineers need to instantly analyze and diagnose the performance of hundreds of batteries in parallel, saving time and money. Altogether, this package makes battery innovation cheaper and faster. Our platform educates the next generation, gives American battery tech a puncher's chance against entrenched Asian manufacturers, and catalyzes the shift to electric vehicles and grid-scale battery storage - all of which are in the interest of national security.
