Tech Brief: LiMiT is a drug activity and toxicity screening system, a miniaturized and potentially portable platform for measuring the effectiveness / toxicity of a chemical or biological weapons agent, determining the mechanism by which it acts, and rapidly finding antidotes against it.

FIGURES OF MERIT

Value Proposition: The development of a portable high-throughput screening lab that we propose here would allow the rapid identification of suitable treatments for patients at the site of biological or chemical attacks. Developing therapies to treat exposure to chemical and biological warfare agents requires the use of high safety levels. This can be either to due to the large amounts of toxic chemicals required for the experiments or due to the need to confine contagious pathogens. High-throughput screening microarrays could be brought into existing laboratories or field hospitals, making the technology accessible where it currently is impractical.
