Tech Readiness: TRL 4

Tech Brief: A patented, thin and flexible oxygen generation and delivery bandage that provides controllable, accurate delivery of concentrated oxygen (26%) for up to 30 hours directly to a wound to stimulate and promote tissue growth. The same oxygen generation process could also generate breathable oxygen for emergency medicine.

Value Proposition: The use of topical oxygen therapy in the form of a lightweight and portable bandage has widespread potential consumer and clinical and battlefield applications. Transdermal sustained- delivery oxygen significantly improves the epithelial component of ischemic wounds healing.1 Oxygen provides advanced treatment for injuries for injuries ranging from superficial wounds to damaged vascular structure in deep, chronic wounds that restrict adequate oxygen for tissue growth. Accordingly, this oxygen generation and delivery bandage can be used in the battlefield or at the point of injury and accelerate the healing process in order to get the warfighter back to a full duty status. Additionally, the technology can be adapted to create breathable, concentrated oxygen for rapid administration in austere environments. For treating a heart attack to altitude sickness, the technology eliminates the need to carry bulky, heavy, and flammable tanks of compressed oxygen.
