Vertical Wind Power Turbine

AFFILIATION:   Vortexis, Inc, Redington Shores, Florida, United States

Track: Energy & Resilience
Area: Power Generation
Tech Readiness: TRL 6

Tech Brief: A revolutionary, pre-swirl augmented vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT) and power generator with high efficiency, light weight, easy deployment and low radar signature.

Value Proposition: Sustainability: The Vortexis turbine is designed to produce power for an extended period with no maintenance with minimum moving mechanical parts. The rotor spins between two ball bearings. The bearings being double sealed, will not be affected by humidity, sand, and/or temperature. ∞ Operational temp: between –32oC to +121°C ∞ Start-up wind speed: 4 knots ∞ Max operating wind speed: 80 mph (If generator allows for Overload) ∞ Max wind speed non‐operational: 100 mph Vortexis design for Expeditionary Mobile Special Ops The Vortexis™ small wind power turbine is ideal to meet the DOD requirements of the 21st century Warfighter. DOD’s goals are “Improving the energy efficiency of the operational forces and reducing vulnerability of supply lines and increasing operational capability.” The Vortexis small wind power turbine is ideal to meet the requirements of todays Warfighter.
