TECHNOLOGY SUMMARY

Track: Medical & Biotech
Area: e-Health
Tech Readiness: TRL 7

Tech Brief: We have developed a Band-Aid-like, disposable soft and stretchable sensor patch for continuous monitoring of vital signs via Bluetooth. This platform technology allows different biometrics including electrocardiogram, temperature, hydration, respiratory rate and blood pressure to be monitored with one single unobstructive chest patch.

FIGURES OF MERIT

Value Proposition: Soldiers frequently need to work under harsh environments which can cause physical harms and mental stress. It is critical to closely monitor the health status and performance of soldiers to ensure a successful and safe mission. In addition to injuries, soldiers who work under extreme heat are prone to dehydration and stroke, which are often neglected until severe symptoms are present. Mental status is also frequently overlooked. Extensive stress in battlefield has the power to break man. A combat-stressed soldier is one who is physically able but otherwise psychologically unable to continue the fight. Stretch Med is developing the most comfortable and reliable wearable biometric sensors. The first generation ultra-thin, ultra-light weight, stretchable ECG/heart rate patch offers the most convenient form factor and minimized motion artifacts, both of which are important to soldiers in the field. Stretch Med’s second generation product is a wearable skin-like chest patch that allows synchronized monitoring of all vital signs. Such comprehensive biometric data collection will provide the most accurate assessment of the soldiers’ physical and mental status in real-time.
