Tech Brief: High-throughput and low-cost manufacturing of upgraded Li-ion materials that result in higher lifetime, performance, and safety. By nano-engineering the active material surfaces we double the lifetime of existing Li-ion battery chemistries. Our innovation also results in a reduced cost of production and cost of ownership with drop-in ready benefits.


Value Proposition: The national defense value proposition of our technology is three-fold. First, our engineered battery materials enable higher capacity, faster cycling, and higher temperature stability. Second, our materials enable higher cycle life reducing the cost of ownership. Third, battery safety is increased by preventing thermal runaway and mitigating nail penetration reactions. Put succinctly, our process produces the best Li-ion batteries available anywhere in the world. By upgrading existing materials in a high volume affordable process, we can improve any Li-ion battery used by the modern military and increase the areas of utilization. The resulting batteries and packs will be lighter, more durable and cheaper to own than current technologies. Our near term applications are specifically targeting improved high temperature performance for vehicular packs such as the T6 and reduced weight for personal battery packs such as the rifleman radio. Our nano-coating process will also be the enabling technology for the next generation of battery systems from solid state to Li-air.
