Tech Brief: Convert any CNC machine tool (the incumbent equipment for making low-medium volume precision metal parts) to be a 3D printer for metal or polymer parts. This provides the freedoms of adding material with the accuracy of machining.
Value Proposition: Enable your existing infrastructure of CNC machine tools to be used for adding metal or polymer (or combinations thereof) onto existing parts for field repair, modification or upgrade of parts. This will dramatically reduce the need for carrying spare parts and extend the life of aircraft, water vessels and land vehicles by providing a supply of obsolete and aging parts. It also opens up the realm of new materials and designs by using 3D printing to produce new combinations of materials including metal alloying on the fly and composite combinations of polymers.
