Green Mobile Farm in a Box
|AFFILIATION:||Guardian Mobile Farms Joint Venture, Richland, Washington, United States|
Track: Energy & Resilience
Tech Readiness: TRL 6
Tech Brief: A mobile shipping container farm delivering fresh, quality, nutritious vegetables and fruits on-site with 100% product traceability. Farms require a small, scalable footprint for bases, ships, disaster relief sites, or emerging country locations using sustainable, energy efficient technologies including aeroponics, solar energy and storage, heating/air conditioning, and water/wastewater recycling.
Value Proposition: Mobile aeroponic farms provides value to National Defense and its ability to defend our nation at forward operating bases, on ships, in isolated locations, and at disaster relief sites with minimal impact to on-site water, energy, and waste resources. Reduces logistical costs and risks due to deployment of container farms onsite, in theater. Container farms can grow microgreens, leafy greens, berries, peppers, sprouts, herbs, and other items currently on the standard menu. On-site container farms reduce food loss; provide a positive impact to soldier’s nutrition/diets, performance, health, and morale; and enhance food security with one hundred percent source traceability of USA grown seeds and on-site control of the growing environment. Farms are scalable and adaptable to most locales and climates.
